About Us

In 2000, WGBH created Eye on Education in response to a need for an examination of the ongoing, often contentious debate about public school education in Massachusetts. Eye on Education focuses a journalistic spotlight on these issues. It brings together the best multi-media education content that WGBH and PBS have to offer and gives visitors the chance to actively participate in Education Reform and its surrounding debates.

Calling all students! In 2004, Eye on Education broadened its audience to include middle- and high-school students. Its goal is to help them focus on and plan for their futures. The Plan Your Path site helps students explore their options and begin working toward a career goal. The High School Choice area helps Boston’s eighth-graders decide which public high school is right for them.

Ongoing collaborations with the Boston Public Schools, the Massachusetts Department of Education, Citizen Schools, El Mundo Newspaper, and numerous community-based organizations help ensure that Eye on Education reaches a large and diverse audience.
